Welcome to CIWEA
The California Internship & Work Experience Association, founded in 1974, is California's leading professional association of educators and employers dedicated to supporting college-level internship and work experience programs in two-year and four-year institutions of higher education.
Our mission is three-fold:
- To serve as an advocate for and to broaden the understanding of the objectives and values of work based learning that integrates classroom learning (theory) with hands-on application (practice).
- To serve as a resource for technical assistance and information to educational institutions and employers endeavoring to establish, strengthen, and maintain their work-integrated learning programs.
- To provide opportunities for active interchange of ideas and professional development relevant to the integration of classroom learning and work experience.
